The Bible is a treasure filled with the loving words of God. There are 66 books in the Bible, 27 in the New Testament and 39 in the Old Testament.

Parts of the Bible have special names:

• Pentateuch or Torah. The first five books of the Old Testament which were written by Moses.
  • Genesis. God creates the world. Noah escapes the flood in a boat.
  • Exodus. Moses leads the Israelites out of Egypt.
  • Leviticus. God gives instructions for His laws
  • Numbers. God counts the people
  • Deuteronomy. The law is repeated.
    Ten Commandments
    Here are the Ten Commandments. Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5.
    1. You shall have no other god. I am the Lord your God.
    2. You shall not make any idols and worship them.
    3. Do not take the name of the Lord in vain.
    4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. You shall not work.
    5. Honor your father and mother.
    6. You shall not kill.
    7. You shall not commit adultery.
    8. You shall not steal
    9. You shall not lie.
    10. You shall not covet.

• Gospel. The word means "good news". It is included in the first four books of the New Testament. The Gospel teaches that God came to pay the punishment for our sins because He loves us so much. And that He has a plan to help us to always do the right things.

The Old Testament includes the books of the Bible written before the birth of Christ.

The New Testament contains the words and letters of some of the disciples of Christ. They were collected in the book almost 100 years after the death of Christ.

Prophecies about the future are mainly found in Daniel and Revelation. Almost all other books contain some prophecies about the future or about the Messiah.
