This information is true for all quilts. All measurements are given in inches. All dimensions are finished size so add one inch in length and width for the half inch seams.

The inspiration for your design can be from many sources. Use those that have simple lines.

• Children's Book. Coloring books and other educational material for children under five have very simple pictures.
• Gift Cards, bags, wrapping paper and Tags. After the product is finished, you can present it with the wrapping and card.
• Presentation Software Graphics. Products like powerpoint have a lot of tools to help you to draw pictures or to combine graphics. The copyright agreements may not allow you to sell some of these designs, but it is probably acceptable for personal use and not for profit children's ministries.
• Foam Stamps. These always have very simple designs and are available in large sizes.

Presentation Software
The designs for all these quilts were made with Microsoft's Powerpoint. The advantage of creating the design in this format is that you can use the final design as a card, or to print it for your patterns. All designs fit a normal printed page. You can resize each applique element and print it as your pattern. The advantage of using Powerpoint and similar presentation software is that it reduces your drawing limitations. It also allows you to experiment with different colors and placements.
These products provide the following abilities:

• Shapes. The drawing tools allow you to draw sun, moon, stars and other geometric shape. Many simple designs can be drawn from these shapes.
• Images. The software is available with a lot of images.
• Free hand Tool. For those who can draw, a free hand tool is available to draw any shape. If you cannot draw then you can find a shape that fits your needs and trace the outline.
• Colors. The objects can be filled with many colors. You can see how different color combinations affect your design.
• Fill Design. The design filling tool allows you use patterns that look like fabric.
• Letters and Fonts. You have many different fonts to produce wonderful alphabets.

Skills
If you decide to use these objects, learn how to group objects, move them behind or bring them forward, flip and rotate them,. For example, in the scissors on the right, the handle was made with two circles and a rectangle. The joint was a red circle and the blade was a rounded rectangle. When one side of the blade was finished, I grouped the objects, then copied and flipped them to create the other side. I made this handle a different color. Then I added the red joint on top and grouped all these objects. Grouping allows you to change the size.
All the objects in that picture were made with only the shape tools.

I Love You Quilt

You are loved	A story quilt is a patchwork quilt that is designed to tell a story. Our quilt tells the story of love. Love for God, family, friends, neighbor and for yourself.

Preparation. This depends on the age group, time and sewing techniques being taught. The craft can be prepared to different states of completeness.

1. No work done - suitable for a sewing class where sewing will be taught. Hearts can be machine stitched or hand embroidered using a variety of embroidery techniques. Suitable for scouts or pathfinder honor classes.
2. Buttons sewing - Suitable for vacation Bible school for older children who can use needles.
3. Button tying only - suitable for all age groups and short time periods. The ties must be in place. Suggest yarn that can be handled by small fingers.

Instructions. Prepare the crafts and the materials according to the age group, amount of time on the day of the craft and the purpose.
• Separate the special buttons into groups of 9.
• The center heart is not decorated so that it can be personalized. It represents the owner of the quilt. You can do the following:

• Give a choice of other special buttons
• Add their name using fabric colors that are washable or using the photographic techniques for their printed name.
• Add their picture using any of the modern techniques for adding pictures to fabric.

Craft Day. Depending on your level of difficulty, you will need the materials listed above. Your will also need an iron and special fabric pens if you personalize the center square. The colors chosen for the heart were meant to show primary colors, secondary, complementary colors and designs.

Tips For The Young.
• Choose buttons with loops or large holes.
• Adults can thread the buttons and the children slide them down the shaft.
• When tying the knot, the children can pull on one end.
• Make ties longer for younger children and then cut off excess.
Important! Make sure you tie a knot and not a bow, so that the button does not fall off.

The quilt is finished with the front, back and the layer of batting between them. There are many ways to bind the edges of the layer together. You can use the quilting stitch, tying or buttons to hold all three layers together throughout the body of the quilt.
