Summary Of Daniel
1 | In Daniel 1 we saw how Nebuchadnezzar assaulted the Holy City of Jerusalem and the Temple of God. As the prototype of the Antichrist, he took God's people into captivity along with the sacred vessels of the sanctuary. He put these sacred vessels in the temple of his god in an effort to use them for pagan purposes. In addition, Nebuchadnezzar tried to brainwash Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah to forget their beliefs. He wanted them to become paganized and Babylonian. As a result, he changed their God given titles to names encouraging loyalty to the God's of Babylon.. Nevertheless, Daniel and his friends determined to not defile the sanctuary of their souls. They did not give in to the "customs and peer pressures" of Babylon. They remained true through a time of testing, and as a reward, God blessed them with wisdom, knowledge, and prophetic understanding. Daniel and his friends provide a "Type" or "model" of God's people at the end of time who will unlock the truths of prophecy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

In Daniel 2, we learned that Nebuchadnezzar had a dream of a giant metallic Man. He could not remember the dream. He called his "wise men" to tell him the dream and the interpretation, but they could not. They said "only the gods whose dwelling is not with flesh" can interpret such mysteries. They pictured the gods as distant and uncaring. Nebuchadnezzar determined to kill all these "false" wise men. Daniel interceded for their lives, and he asked for time to pray. At the end of the time, God revealed the dream and its interpretation.
Daniel told the king the vision. He saw a great metal man and a rock "cut out without hands" that struck and destroyed the image. The rock then grew into a mountain that filled the whole earth.
Finally, at the end of Chapter 2, Daniel and his friends are rewarded for interpreting the dream for Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar makes Daniel his direct advisor, and he sets Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in charge of the affairs of Babylon. In Daniel Chapter 2, God was revealed as the true prophet. He is the only one who really knows the future. |
